Knights, Rebels fall in third round

Burns 30, North Lincoln 27  (OT)

Quarterback Cam’Ron Sweezy waltzed into the endzone from 10 yards out untouched on the Bulldogs first play of the overtime period to give Burns a 30-27 third-round victory over the Knights Friday night in Pumpkin Center.

After Zach Benfield had kicked a 29-yard field goal with just eight seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime at 24 all, Ian Fiore’s 20-yarder had given North Lincoln a brief 27-24 in the overtime period before Sweezy’s game-winning run.



Shelby 42, West Lincoln 7

The Rebels (10-4) magical season came to an end Friday night at Shelby (12-1), as West Lincoln fell to the defending 2A state champions 42-7 in the third round.  

The Rebels won a playoff game for the first time ever in 2019, then hosted a playoff game and won it.  It was West Lincoln’s first-ever trip to the third round, and their first-ever 10-win season.
