CFB Week 1 Recap

Some thoughts on the first full weekend of college football …

Top Performances:

1. Clemson … Looked like a team that will be competing once again for a national title in drubbing of Georgia Tech.

2. Alabama … Had a slow start, but looked like a machine once they got “ROLLing.”

3. LSU … That’s the way you handle a non-Power 5 team.

4. Oklahoma … Offense was nearly perfect.  Defense much improved.

5. Auburn … Best win of the weekend.  Overcame large deficit late with a freshman QB.

6. Penn State … After a scare in their 2018 opener vs. App State, the Nittany Lions left no doubt against Idaho with a 79-point performance.

7. Washington State … When will Mike Leach land at a top 10 program?

8. North Carolina … Mack Brown and Sam Howell have brought excitement to the Tarheels.  Nice defensive game from Chazz Surratt.

9. Appalachian State … Always plays well in season openers.  Can’t wait till September 21.

10. UCF … Are we going to have to hear why they should be a playoff team all season AGAIN?
