Bridges sets single-season rushing record

West Lincoln’s Canon Bridges broke the Lincoln County single-season rushing record Friday night in the Rebels third-round playoff loss at Shelby.

Bridges, who needed 71 yards going into the game to tie the old record of 2,286 yards set by Lincolnton’s Tarus Dameron in 2015, picked up 79 yards on the night against the Golden Lions.

Bridges ran for 2,294 on 296 yards this season, averaging 164 yards per game and 7.8 yards per carry.  The senior running back scored 32 touchdowns.
